Now that COVID travel restrictions have been lifted across the majority of the planet, travel season is in full swing.  As a massive wave of eager people excitedly book their summer vacations to destinations all over the world, there will be more folks journeying to far-off lands this year than ever before.  Although this new surge in COVID cases will not stop people from enjoying their coveted escape, it is important to protect your health while on your trip.

My family and I learned how to guard against ailment while traveling around the world for a whole year.  During that time, we maintained good health by mindfully supporting our immune system with a few simple supplements.  I thought I would share some of the products we personally used then (and still use today) to keep us safe during our adventure exploring the planet.

If you feel inclined, please use the links provided when purchasing to help Just Plane Crazy Travel continue to provide valuable travel resources.

#1 – Probiotics

Exotic foods and foreign water may upset your tummy while abroad.  It is imperative to use a probiotic to keep your gut health in balance.  I have been using Flora Adult’s Probiotic for years to keep my belly in check.

#2 – D3 + K2

Many people understand the health benefits of getting plenty of vitamin D to include boosting your immune system and providing consistent energy, but did you know there is a huge difference in the quality of the vitamin D you purchase?  Many D vitamins are synthetic and hard to absorb.  D3 is the only form that occurs naturally and is easier for your system to soak up.  In addition, you must ingest vitamin K2 along with vitamin D for it to be absorbed.  I love Micro Ingredient’s Vitamin D3 + K2 Softgel because it is easy to ingest and super affordable.

#3 – Elderberry

Elderberry is a natural immune booster and antioxidant.  It comes in all different forms including gummies and capsules.  I prefer the liquid version Black Elderberry Syrup by Gaia.  It tastes great and is easy to get down.  I usually take a swig a few days before getting on an airplane to protect my health.

#4 – Zinc

Zinc with Vitamin C is a great way to be proactive when it comes to guarding against colds, flus and you know what…COVID.  Make certain your zinc includes Vitamin C so it can be absorbed for peak immune health.  I take Garden of Life’s Vitamin Code Raw Zinc a week before travel day to keep me healthy.  The formula is easy on your gut and absorbs well.

#5 – Green Tea Extract

Green  Tea Extract is an excellent immune system supporter.  Just like zinc, I will take my green tea supplement building up to a week before travel to safe guard my health so I can enjoy my vacation.  I prefer ZenWise Green Tea Extract because it is easy to swallow and digest.

BONUS #6 – IPLEX

OK, so this supplement may not protect you against ailment on your travels, but it may help you see the beauty on your trip.  I felt compelled to tell you about an incredible product I came across.  If you are forty-something like I am, then you may be experiencing a change in your eyesight.  I started noticing that I was squinting when trying to read menus in dimly lit restaurants or looking at the small print ingredients on the back of labels.  I love Standard Process super high quality supplements and thought I would try their eye support complex.  Within three weeks I was aware of a significant improvement in my eyesight, so much so that I avoided needing reading glasses!  Therefore, I highly recommend IPLEX from a very positive first-hand experience.

Stay safe and happy travels!
